The South Asia Chapter of World Editors Forum (WEF), the network of editors within WAN-IFRA was started in February 2018, and Mukund Padmanabhan, Editor of The Hindu was chosen as the first chairman of the Chapter. This is the first chapter of WEF in its 25 years history. The following editors are the members of the Chapter.

WAN-IFRA South Asia, headquartered in Chennai, started its operation in 2001 as a private limited company registered under the Indian Companies Act. But the origin of IFRA in India dates back to 1992 when the services of IFRA, with only an Annual Conference, were offered in this country through a representative office.
